Andrew Eder was educated at St. Paul’s School in London and qualified from King’s College Hospital School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1986. In 1989, Professor Eder moved to the Eastman for his postgraduate training and completed a Masters in Conservative Dentistry.
Professor Eder is Associate Vice-Provost (UCL Enterprise) and Director of CPD and Short Course Development with a portfolio to facilitate expansion of this key strategic area across UCL. Previously, Professor Eder was Director of Education and CPD at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, where he continues to be involved in postgraduate dental education, and Associate Dean for Continuing Education in the UCL School of Life and Medical Sciences.
As a Specialist in Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics, he also maintains a referral specialist Private Practice in Central London. Professor Eder has a special interest in the aetiology, demographics and clinical management of patients with tooth surface loss and, in particular, those patients with compromised function and aesthetics as well as sensitivity. He is Co-Editor of the BDJ book on Tooth Surface Loss and Clinical Director of the London Tooth Wear Centre®.
Academic interests also include innovative methodology and technology in teaching and learning and the impact of training on patient outcomes in clinical practice. Professor Eder is also on the Editorial Boards of the British Dental Journal, Dental Tribune, the European Journal of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Private Dentistry and Premium Practice Dentistry.
Professor Eder is a recipient of a Provost’s Teaching Award in 2010, one of the highest accolades for excellence and innovation in teaching and learning at UCL. He is also a past President of Alpha Omega, the Royal Society of Medicine’s Odontological Section and the British Society for Restorative Dentistry. Professor Eder is also Chairman of the Charitable Trust of the Alpha Omega London Chapter, an examiner for UCL and the Royal College of Surgeons of England and, formerly, Postgraduate Tutor for the London Deanery.

Educational Research: developing a local research
theme studying graduate education amongst dental professionals looking at: (1)
outcomes and feedback, (2) group dynamics and (3) innovative technology.
Clinical Research: primarily associated with the aetiology and management of
patients with tooth surface loss in association with supervision of M-level
graduate projects.
