Research Summary
I have a longstanding interest in investigating gene therapeutic approaches for treatment of rare neuromuscular and neurodegenerative diseases. Throughout my research career, I have developed a strong background in biomarker research to diagnose disease and predict outcomes of experimental therapies. Currently, I am investigating the role of microRNAs in the rare, degenerative disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and their use as a biomarkers of disease progression.
The main project aim is to utilize RNA sequencing (NGS) to profile a large cohort of ALS patient plasma for novel biomarkers with diagnostic and prognostic capacity. Furthermore I am exploring possibilities for miRNA therapeutics in motor neuron disease.
