Research Summary

I have been actively involved with research throughout my clinical training. During my full-time clinical work (as a paediatric trainee and subsequently as a paediatric neurology registrar at Great Ormond Street Hospital), I showed strong track record in completing research alongside clinical commitments. My work has been consistently disseminated through presentations at national and international meetings (including 4 oral presentations and numerous poster presentations and published abstracts) and 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals.

In March 2015, due to my interest in neurometabolic disease, I took time Out Of Programme from clinical training and undertook a Research Fellowship in Neurodegenerative disorders at UCL-Institute of Child Health, London, UK. In May 2016, during the 14th International Child Neurology Congress (held in Amsterdam, Netherlands), I was awarded the congress's 'Young Investigator Award' for my work in delineating the movement disorder spectrum of FOXG1-related disease.

In February 2016, I was awarded a highly competitive joint Action Medical Research/ British Paediatric Neurology Association Research Training Fellowship for my project: ‘Investigation of disease mechanisms and screening for treatments in beta-propeller protein-associated neurodegeneration (BPAN). This project will be jointly held at the Developmental Neurosciences Unit, UCL-Institute of Child Health and UCL-MRC Laboratory of Molecular Cell Biology, London, UK, from September 2016, onwards.
