Biography

After receiving my Bachelor degree Clinical Technology at University Twente in Enschede, the Netherlands in 2006, I studied for a Masters degree in Biomedical Sciences at the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands. In January 2009, I began my PhD project researching combined oral contraceptive-associated venous thrombosis under supervision of Prof. Frits Rosendaal, Prof. Frans Helmerhorst at the Department of Thrombosis and Haemostasis and the Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden, the Netherlands. The results of my thesis has been presented at several congresses. I was awarded a travel award at the NVTH, Koudekerke, the Netherlands and the Young Investigator Award at the ISTH in Kyoto, Japan. On 8 May 2013, I successfully defended my PhD thesis in Leiden, the Netherlands.

Currently, I am a member of the Self-Assessment Team for Athena Swan at the Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care and a member of the Early Career Forum committee which organizes monthly seminars for Early Career Researchers.
