  • Faculty of Pop Health Sciences

Caroline is a Research Associate in Health Economics for the PRIMENT Clinical Trials Unit, which sits within PCPH at the UCL Royal Free Campus in Hampstead Heath. She joined PRIMENT in June 2014, and her role is to support the design and analysis of the economic evaluation aspect of clinical trials that are run with or through PRIMENT by diverse groups from UCL and elsewhere, as well as collaborating with health economists in other parts of UCL on ad hoc projects. The majority of PRIMENT’s trials focus on primary care and mental health, in particular involving complex interventions. She is also involved in the teaching of health economics aspects of the Introduction to Clinical Trials module of UCL’s BSc in Applied Medical Sciences, and the MSc in Clinical Trials (launching autumn 2016).

Before joining UCL, Caroline worked in the operations department of a small global strategic intelligence and market research healthcare consultancy in London, leading the quality control (proofreading) and project resource management functions, and before that she lived in Spain for a few years and worked as a translator of Spanish and Catalan into English. She holds an undergraduate BA and MSci in Natural Sciences (Chemistry) and a PhD in Chemistry from Cambridge and completed two postdoctoral stints before leaving that field, in Valencia then Barcelona. She completed the part-time Master’s in Economic Evaluation in Health Care at City University London at the end of 2013, with distinction.
