Biography

Appointed Director of Development Education Research Centre, 2006. Editor of the International Journal of Development Education and Global Learning, 2008-2015. Reader in Education since 2010.

Prior to establishing the Development Education Research Centre, was Director of the Development Education Association.
Member of range of government advisory panels and working groups including Sustainable Development Education Panel from 1998 to 2005 and Development Awareness Working Group from 1998 to 2004.
Chair of UK Committee on Decade of Education for Sustainable Development from 2004 to 2009.
Chair of Humanities Education Centre in Tower Hamlets

Research Themes
Research Summary

Main areas of activity are managing and implementing a range of research programmes including the Global Learning Programme, funded by DFID, consultancy projects for bodies such as UNESCO and within the Institute supporting other academic staff in including the global dimension within their courses and the promotion of global perspectives within higher education. 

Produced leading academic book on development education, The Theory and Practice of Development Education and Global Learning (2015), contributed to a number of books on aspects of development education and global education. Author of numerous articles on themes such as global skills, global citizenship education and education for sustainable development

Currently academic advisor to the Global Education Network Europe (GENE).

Advisor to Nodebook, educational resource company.

Course leader for the MA in Development Education and Global Learning.

Teaching Summary
