Florian Wagner-von Papp is Professor of Antitrust and Comparative Law & Economics at UCL, and, for the academic year 2018-19, Visiting Professor at Osaka University. 

In 2017-18, he was on sabbatical from UCL, and during that time he acted as pro tempore Professor of Private and Economic Law at the Helmut-Schmidt-University of the Armed Forces in Hamburg, Germany, as well as a Visiting Professor at the University of Würzburg.

He read law at the University of Tübingen on a scholarship from the German National Academic Scholarship Foundation and received his first law degree in 1998. After his trainee period in London, Tübingen and Stuttgart, he passed the German Bar Exam (Second State Examination) in 2000. In 2002, he received a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree by Columbia Law School with the highest academic distinction (James Kent Scholar). In 2004, the University of Tübingen awarded him a PhD degree summa cum laude for his thesis on the exchange of information between competitors. 

He is a Director of the UCL Centre for Law and Economics,  a member of the Academic Board of the UCL Jevons Institute, an elected member of the Walter Eucken Institute, a Fellow of the European Centre for Tort and Insurance Law in Vienna, a member of the Academic Society for Competition Law (ASCOLA), a member of the European Law Institute (ELI), and an associate member of the American Bar Association - Antitrust Section.

At UCL, he was previously Reader in Law (2012-2017), Lecturer (2007-2012) and Clifford Chance/DAAD-Lektor (2005-2007). Before joining UCL, he was Lecturer and Academic Assistant at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen, Germany.
