I have a BSc in Psychology from Goldsmith’s College, University of London, and a MSc in Genes, Environment and Development from King’s College London. In 2017 I completed my PhD at the Department of Behavioural Science and Health, UCL. My PhD was supervised by Dr Clare Llewellyn (UCL), Dr Alison Fildes (University of Leeds) and Dr Frühling Rijsdijk (KCL). My doctoral research aimed at understanding the aetiology of emotional eating in childhood using behavioural genetic methods. During my PhD, I was a core team member of the Gemini Twin Study (http://www.geministudy.co.uk), a prospective twin cohort focusing on genetic and environmental factors influencing early growth and eating behaviours.

Research Summary

Since graduating, I have joined the Institute of Child Health as a Research Associate on a MRC funded research project led by Dr Nadia Micali. This international project aims to identify behavioural, genetic and metabolic risk factors in childhood associated with the development of eating disorders in adolescence and early adulthood.

My general research interests are:
  • Applying behavioural genetic methods to understand individual differences between people
  • Statistical methods to analyse longitudinal data
  • Genetic and environmental risk factors for childhood and adult obesity
  • The aetiology of eating disorders
  • Emotional eating and its impact on weight and mental health
  • Ethical implications of genetic research
