Biography

Jacqui qualified as a barrister in 2007 and spent time working as a judicial assistant at the House of Lords and UKSC before joining UCL. She holds dual Scots and English law degrees and has experience teaching trainee barristers and solicitors in both jurisdictions (human rights and criminal practice). Jacqui's experience of public interest lawyering in the clinical human rights programme at Harvard Law School was instrumental to the approach she took to designing and establishing clinical programmes in the Centre for Access to Justice at UCL.

She is committed to partnership building at local, national and international level having worked as the founding Faculty coordinator of the global Law Without Walls programme and developed courses in conjunction with many local charities and NGOs (Liberty, FRU, Just for Kids Law, Amnesty International (UK)). Jacqui has been external examiner for clinical programmes at the University of Essex, served on the Access to Justice Committee of the Law Society of Scotland and acts as academic learning partner to grant making bodies and voluntary sector organisations.
