Research Summary

My major research interests are focused on studying the transcriptional and cell signalling programmes in inflammation  and the repair of tissues following injury or damage. My aim is to understand the phenotypic regulation of fibroblasts, endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells, in fibrosis and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
The technologies and expertise used to address these fundamental questions of biology, pathology and human disease are:
- Investigation of transcriptional and signal transduction control mechanisms regulating extracellular matrix
- Biology of transcription factors and their mode of action.
- Genetics, Gene motifs and elements involved in the control of gene expression.
- Gene manipulation/editing using RNAi, floxed and CRISPR technologies
- Gene expression vectors and recombination technologies including protein purification and protein tagging
