Biography

I obtained my MMSc (first class, 4.38/4.5) in Physiology from College of Medicine, Hanyang University, Seoul, Republic of Korea and received PhD in Clinical Neuroscience from University of Cambridge, UK. I have worked on a range of neurodegenerative diseases since my MMSc study including Parkinson's disease (PD), Huntington's disease (HD), early onset dementia and even rare inherited Fabry disease which cover major neurodegenerative conditions. For PhD study at University of Cambridge, I have investigated functional roles of adult neurogenesis in cognitive impairments frequently seen as early signs of neurodegenerative diseases particularly for patients with HD and PD. Since I joined UCL institute of Neurology, I intensively work on pathological mechanisms/pathways of alpha-synuclein aggregates which are key pathological features of PD by employing live cell imaging technique.
