I am working at the intersection of economics and public health at University College London. In my work I use multidisciplinary research methods and data analysis techniques that apply economic theory to analyse major public health problems and evaluate health interventions.

I started my career with a FPI Fellowship from the Department of Economics at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, where I completed my first MSc degree in Economic Analysis. Following that I obtained an MSc and a Ph.D. in Quantitative Economics from the University of Alicante.

Prior to coming to UCL, I was working as an Assistant Professor in Household Finance at Goethe University Frankfurt and as a Research Fellow and a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Economics at the University of Alicante.

Research Summary

My research interests are primary in applied health economics and quantitative evaluation of health interventions. Currently I am involved in projects evaluating the effectiveness of specialist cancer surgery services reconfiguration in London and models of generalist and specialist care in smaller acute hospitals.

I also have several papers exploring the interplay between mental health and economics, specifically, the role of economic fluctuations in explaining mental health problems and the effect of mental health on economic decision making.
