Research Summary
Multiscale modelling of mechanical properties of clay/graphene-polymer nanocomposites.

Implementing a highly parallel Heterogenous Multiscale Method (HMM) encompassing Finite Element Analysis (Deal.II) and Molecular Dynamics (LAMMPS) modelling techniques.
The purpose of this HMM is to study the complexity of fracture related phenomena emerging at different time and length scales from an initial all-atom description of the material.
The implemented piece of code now runs on thousands of cores on European supercomputers such as ARCHER (UK) and SuperMUC (GE).

The development of this method is also part of a broader initiative to enhance the reliability and accuracy of predictive computational models applied in materials science.
