Biography
I am a biocurator at UCL funded by the British Heart Foundation to annotate cardiovascular-related gene products with GO (gene ontology) terms and their molecular interactions. I work as part of a growing team under Dr Ruth Lovering. Prior to this, I was awarded my PhD degree from UCL School of Pharmacy in Prof. Stephen Neidle’s lab in X-ray crystallographic and molecular dynamics computational studies of G-quadruplex DNA structures in complex with anti-cancer ligands. Following this I joined the MacTel Project under consultant ophthalmologist Dr Tunde Peto at Moorfields Hospital, in collaboration with Dr Imre Lengyel at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. I contributed to the MacTel epidemiological and clinical trials Project as a data manager. I also conducted computer-assisted grading of optical coherence tomography (OCT) images using OCTOR. I also worked as a screener on the Diabetic Retinal Screening Programme. ORCID ID: 0000-0001-9995-0839

Research Summary

My annotation interest include:

  1. telomerase including its holoenzyme, shelterin and CST complexes, with a special focus on telomerase's non-canonical role.
  2. cardiac conduction.
  3. lipid and cardiovascular disease risk genes.
Teaching Summary

I teach on the MSc course 'Genetics of Human Diseases' part of the UCL Genetics Institute (UGI) masters programme. I deliver approximately seven hours of student contact time including lectures, tutorials and practicals.
