Mr Nikolaos Pavlopoulos

In addition to undertaking a PhD, Niko is also a Teaching Fellow at UCL. He also serves as a Project Coordinator for the UCL Public International Law Pro Bono Project. He has previously served as Academic Editor of the UCL Journal of Law and Jurisprudence (2016-2017), having also been an editorial board member (2014-2015, 2017-2018). 

Niko received a Distinction on his LLM in International Law from UCL, and completed his  LLB (Law with European Legal Studies) with First Class Honours at the University of Southampton, with a year abroad at KU Leuven (Belgium).

Prior to joining UCL, Niko undertook internships at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law and the International Bar Association Human Rights Institute, and was an ad hoc researcher for the Media Legal Defence Initiative. He also worked as a research assistant for academics, practitioners, and Judge Crawford of the International Court of Justice. 

Research Summary

Working under the supervision of Professor Roger O’Keefe and Dr Alex Mills, his thesis concerns itself with the international legal framework pertaining to governmental status. His research is supported by an Economic and Social Research Council Studentship and the UCL Faculty of Laws. 

Teaching Summary

As a Teaching Fellow, Niko is responsible for delivering tutorials for Public International Law (LLB). He has also participated in UCL's widening participation schemes, giving lectures to prospective university law students on International Human Rights Law.
