Biography

Mr Neil Nathwani is a Senior Clinical Teaching fellow at the Eastman Dental Institute and he has been appointed the Deputy Programme Director for the Restorative Dental Practice Certificate which runs throughout the whole academic year.

Neil has worked in both NHS and private practice for the last 10 years and currently works in specialist practices where he accepts referrals from general dental practioners. He has been a specialist clinical tutor at Guys and St Thomas hospital for 3 years prior to his current UCL Eastman post. Neil played an active role in teaching both undergraduates and postgraduates. Neil currently teaches postgraduates on the Certificate course as well as other short courses. He also delivers courses to recently qualified dentists and is a specialist clinical dental trainer in practice.

Neil graduated from Guy's, King's and St Thomas Hospital with his BDS degree and several awards. He was awarded the Newland Pedley Medal and Prize for the most clinically outstanding student and also the Saunders prize for the best patient care. After working in several hospital senior house officer posts including restorative dentistry, oral medicine and children's dentistry (community and special needs) and following from his diplomas, he was accepted onto the specialist prosthodontics postgraduate degree at Guy's. In 2009, Neil was highly commended for the best young dentist award in London. Following completion with a distinction of his MclinDent in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and MPros RCS (Edin), he was recognised by the General Dental Council as a Specialist In Prosthodontics.
