Biography
I hold a joint appointment between the MRC Unit of Lifelong Health and Ageing (Faculty of Population Health Sciences) and Centre for Longitudinal Studies (UCL Institute of Education). I received my PhD from the Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology at UCL (2011-15) based at the Evidence Based Practice Unit, held a postdoctoral position at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (2015-16) and was Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Population Mental Health and Child Development at the University of Liverpool (2016-18).
I currently hold an honorary Senior Lecturer position at the University of Liverpool and Research Fellow position at the University of Manchester.
Research Summary
My research interests primarily fall in the area of child development and epidemiology with a focus on mental health through the life course including prevalence, risk factors, consequences, developmental pathways and interventions to promote better mental health. I use several longitudinal studies, including the British birth cohort studies, in my research. In terms of interventions, my research focuses on community based interventions that are not just about treatment but also focus on prevention of problems, reduction of stigma around mental ill-health and promoting greater wellbeing.
Teaching Summary
I co-ordinate the PhD programme at the MRC Unit for Lifelong Health and Ageing and contribute lectures to various courses.
Prospective PhD students are welcome to get in touch.
