PhD in Economics, formerly a tenured academic at the University of Manchester and now a Visiting Professor in computing science at UCL. An industry advisory board member of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Financial Computing.

Integral as CIO and Director of Analytics to launch and development of a successful start-up in UK fintech alt-fi consumer lending, with business sold in a $740m transaction.

Substantial general management and executive experience, including hedge fund management Board membership of significant divisions of the Royal Bank of Scotland, and the Executive Management Team, Risk Management Committee and Credit Committees of Standard Chartered Bank.

Former corporate Vice President of risk strategy and global data science at GE Consumer Finance/GE Money, Global Head of Portfolio Risk and Group Head Risk Strategy at Standard Chartered, and IT and data science responsibility for RBS Retail Direct and Natwest Streamline.

Paul has advised Google, market leading hedge funds, supranationals and governments in areas related to applied AI, fin-tech and banking regulation.

Research Summary

Paul's  interests are in applied AI and machine learning, agent based economic models.
