I obtained my PhD at Loughborough University in Social Sciences, for which I conducted conversation analytic research on sexual identity, gaze and touch in everyday interactions. My background is in Linguistics, and I completed a MA in Sociolinguistics at the University of Essex, and a BA in German (Linguistcs and Language Studies) at the University of Southampton.

I am working as a Research Associate in the Research Department of Medical Education (RDME) at UCL Medical School, where I am involved on projects looking at differential attainment in postgraduate medical assessments, and the use of simulated patients in examinations. Prior to this I worked as a Research Fellow at Leeds University Business School, where I worked on a project looking at the language and body language of entrepreneurs seeking support from investors, using conversation analysis and gesture analysis. During my PhD studies I worked as a Research Assistant on a number of projects at Loughborough University, and also taught on a range of modules.
