Research Summary
I am interested in researching how policy processes are understood, imagined and enacted in various contexts. I find the use of social theories to be illuminating in this undertaking, and in particualr I have found Pierre Bourdieu's work on power and positionality helpful in analysing how policy processes impact upon different stakeolder groups in the English educational system. My research is qualitative in approach, and I use interviews, focus groups, observations and policy documentation in my empirical work to date. I am becoming increasingly interetsed in how processes of privitisation are contributing to and shaping deabtes about educational reform processes, from a national and international perspective.
