Biography
Professor Read Montague holds a Wellcome Trust Principal Research Fellowship at The Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging, University College London. This research program seeks to uncover the computational and neural mechanisms supporting social cognition in humans for the purpose of understanding and treating psychopathologies. This goal is being pursued through three separate, but interacting lines of inquiry that will develop computational models of human social exchange; test and adjust these models based on neuroimaging and behavioural data; and apply the results to actual psychopathology groups.  His group uses theoretical, computational, and experimental approaches to these issues employing novel approaches to functional neuroimaging, new biomarkers for mental disease, spectroscopy, real-time voltammetry, and computational simulations.
