I completed my undergraduate studies (M.Eng.) in biochemical engineering from UCL and master year abroad from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. For my Ph.D., I joined the healthcare biotechnology group at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Cambridge. This research was in collaboration and funded by the Vaccine Production Program Lab at the National Institutes of Health. The prime focus of this research was to design, synthesise and evaluate synthetic affinity ligands for the purification of recombinant influenza antigens. Two successful ligands from the multicomponent Ugi library were selected for purification as a result of this research.

Research Summary

My research focuses on the process development and downstream processing of rotavirus vaccines. The consortium project entitled “Ultra-low cost, Transferable Automated Platform for Vaccine Manufacture (ULTRA),” aims to create a generic, low-cost, manufacturing platform that standardises the development and production of new recombinant protein vaccines for less than 15 cents a dose.

Teaching Summary

I have supervised two PartIIB students for a research project and conducted undergraduate tutorials for an IChemE module.
