My research investigates the sustainability of urban water systems, particularly social and policy factors. I am interested in green infrastructure, water reuse, water efficiency and desalination. I use qualitative social research methods informed by theories from the science and technology studies, philosophy of technology and philosophy of engineering. I have supervised PhD projects in Australia, the UK, Mexico, Iran, Kenya and Peru. I have worked with a number of external partners including Waterwise, Arup, AECOM, Thames Water and WWF.
I am director of the UCL Engineering Exchange, which aims to enhance local community engagement with engineering research.
