Biography

Sarah is a psychologist, whose prior research has focused on working with children, schools and families to better understand child development and promote positive outcomes for children and families.  She has worked with local schools to develop and evaluate initiatives to improve outcomes for children and families.

After completing her PhD in psychology, Sarah worked as a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Greenwich. She then went on to work as a Research Associate for the Centre for Children, Schools and Families at the University of Greenwich.  Currently, Sarah is a Research Associate at UCL working on a project identifying and evaluating road safety education programmes for parents of children under 11 years-old.

Research Summary

Sarah’s research background is in understanding children’s healthy development and intervention evaluation. Her research interests surround the interplay of different systems (e.g. schools, families) in promoting the positive development of children, particularly in relation to cognitive and social development, decision-making, and road safety.  Current projects include understanding the role of children’s executive function in their transition to school and the promotion of more successful school transitions.

Sarah is also interested in intervention evaluation. She has worked in partnership with schools to advise on evaluation design in relation to teacher stress and to develop and evaluate education programmes for children and families, for example in relation to cyberbullying. At present Sarah is a Research Associate at UCL working on a project to identify and evaluate road safety interventions for parents of children under 11 years-old. In particular the project will focus on identifying ways to engage parents from socially deprived backgrounds.
