Research Summary

Stijn van Ewijk does research on waste and resource management. His current projects are in the fields of industrial ecology and sustainability transitions. Stijn's PhD at the UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources was on the sustainable use of materials in the global paper life cycle. He conducted part of his PhD at the Center for Industrial Ecology at Yale University. Stijn worked on policies for resource efficiency and the circular economy as a visiting researcher at the UK government. 

Teaching Summary

Stijn co-developed and taught the module "Waste and Resource Efficiency" in 2017 and 2018. In this interdisciplinary module, students gain an overall perspective on resource use and waste management in human society and are introduced to technologies and systems for waste and resource management. Stijn also gave lectures for other modules on input-output modelling, wind energy, and material flow analysis. Stijn is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).
