Research Summary

Research interests: Institutional change in knowledge-intensive organizations within the higher education and research sectors. I use theoretical perspectives from sociology of organizations, sociology of professions, public policy, public administration, and management to look at strategic agency of social actors. Within an institutional approach, my particular interest focuses on the understanding of the multi-level dynamics in the so-called "knowledge society".

Methodological expertise: Qualitative research – interviews, focus groups, document analysis – to conduct cross-sectional and longitudinal case studies. My approach is comparative, structured around systematic treatment of large amounts of diverse data. I have developed expertise in the construction of qualitative databases and in advanced qualitative analysis through software such as NVivo. My methodological interest lies with the standardization of qualitative data and its integration with quantitative analysis.
