Italian Postmodernism and the Cold War
This research explores Italian postmodernism in relation to the atomic bomb’s corrosive impact on every aspect of social life, individual experience, and personal and collective memory, but also, more positively, as an expression of utopian desires that remain excluded from the codified “mass utopias” of East and West. More than two decades after the end of the Cold war period, important questions remain unanswered. My articles "No New Earth" (2014) and "Nostalgia atomic" (2014), suggest that postmodernist art owes its specific force to the cultural conditions of the “atomic age”, and examines how literature responds to the new political and social concerns of post-cold-war era.
