Dr Ashley works closely with Dr Anne Young supporting her work on the development of novel materials for dental restoration. He is also working with Dr D Spratt on the oral acquisition of microflora. He has an interest in evidence based dentistry and the management of pain and anxiety in children.
Teaching Summary
Dr Ashley is Programme Director for the DDent in Paediatric Dentistry and the PG Certificate in Paediatric Dentistry. He held the position of Director of Education (Operations) for the UCL Eastman Dental Institute from 2007 to 2008. He also teaches on aspects of caries and prevention for the majority of the other programmes at the Eastman and also lectures on this and other paediatric topics for the Eastman's Continuing Professional Development Programme. Other teaching duties have included local and national FDS and MFDS courses, development of education material for dental therapist training, teaching and examining dental nurses and invited lectures within the UK and overseas.
