Research Summary
Dr McDonald is interested in Zirconia and implants and collaborates with the Biomaterials unit exploring their innovative aspects. Her clinical research focuses on tooth restorability, when to restore or extract teeth and the decision making process. She also works with Microbiology in the evaluation of nasal and oral carriage of MRSA and innovative modes of decontamination.
Teaching Summary
Dr McDonald is involved in teaching on the MSc in Implant Dentistry, Conservative Dentistry and the MClin Dent in Prosthodontics. Her particular areas of interest are: Assessment and restoration of the badly broken down tooth, tooth coloured restorations in load-bearing areas, survival of restorations and implants.
As Co-Director of the MSc in Implant Dentistry she leads the continual development of this programme's teaching, learning and assessment.
She is an internal examiner for the MSc in Implant Dentistry, Conservative Dentistry, MJDF(London), and external examiner for FFD Prosthodontics and D.Ch.Dent.
