Biography

I am currently a Honorary Research and Teaching Fellow at the UCL Italian Department/SELCS, and from 2011 I am the convenor of the MA in Gender Society and Representation.

In 2009 I concluded a two years Post-doctoral Mellon Fellowship at UCL with a research project on migration and culture with a specific focus on the Italian case.
I was educated in Italy. In 2000-01 I studied for an MA in Translation Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Essex. I returned to Italy to commence studies for my PhD in Literature at the University of Naples and combined my doctoral research with work as a research assistant at the University of Palermo. I was awarded my PhD in 2007 with a dissertation on the "Double works" of the Pre-Raphaelite poet-painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
My research interests cover a wide range of topics, from translation to migration studies, from visual culture to cultural studies and gender. I have a special interest in interdisciplinarity and in particular in the relationship between literature and other arts.
