Co-ordinator for the Certificate in Restorative Dental Practice The course is specifically designed for the general dental practitioner who is keen to follow a structured course but is unable to undertake a full-time postgraduate course, such as an MSc programme. The course is constructed on a modular basis, each module occupying three to five days with sessions over 28 days from January to December. Teaching is by means of seminars, presentations, practical procedures performed on plastic teeth in 'phantom heads' and by group discussion. Pre-module reading is provided to supplement reference to recommended texts. Occasionally practical work involving reversible procedures is undertaken on fellow course participants. Topics covered include: Treatment Planning, Critical literature appraisal, Plastic restorations and Adhesive dentistry, Current practice of Periodontology, Modern Endodontic techniques, Occlusion in relation to restorative dentistry, Restoration of anterior and posterior teeth, Replacement of missing teeth, with Participants' nurses and hygienists courses. Participants will receive intensive postgraduate teaching to enable them to refine and improve their practical skills. The course is ideal for the general dental practitioner wishing to develop his or her practice in restorative dentistry in order to improve job-satisfaction and be able to offer patients a higher level of care.
