Executive Seminars Other Collaboration with Business, Commerce or Public Corporation New Zealand Council for Infrastructure Development 2010
Description
Instigated a connection with NZCID following the change of government in New Zealand and their declared interest in adopting the principles of the Private Finance Initiative and Public Private Partnerships. The result was the creation and highly successful execution of two annual sets of high level seminars on the principles and practice of PFI and PPPs. In each year two sets of 3-day seminars were organised in prestigious venues in Auckland and Wellington. In total, approximately 130 senior individuals from both public and private sector organisations (typically director level) attended, and a range of speakers from New Zealand, Australia and the UK presented. These events led to a strong relationship being established with the National Infrastructure Unit (NIU) a recently specialist group within the New Zealand Ministry of Finance. This was an example of UCL’s commitment to being a global university and its belief in the social valuation of enterprise. The benefits to UCL were profile raising, establishing new networks, and access to data to be used for research papers.
