A life course approach to neighbourhood effects seminar Conference Organisation UNiversity College London 28-JUN-2017
Description
This seminar will bring together researchers across a number of academic disciplines working on neighbourhood effects over the life course. A research team, funded by the Leverhulme Trust, who would like to strengthen links with international scholars, will host the meeting. They plan to disseminate their early findings on whether living in a deprived neighbourhood in early life matters more for later life health and wellbeing than at other life stages and seek feedback on the challenges other researchers face when matching individual survey data to historic aggregate data. The British Society for Population Studies supports the event with a view to hosting a session at its 2017 conference in Liverpool, September 6-8th. Speakers include Philippa Clarke (University of Michigan), Ruth Dundas (MRC/CSO University of Glasgow), Lina Hedman (Uppsala University), Øyvind Næss (Norwgian Institute of Public Health), Stephen Jivraj, Emily Murrary and Owen Nicholas (UCL), Paul Norman (University of Leeds). Topics to be discussed will include: - Cumulative exposure to neighbourhood disadvantage - Critical life course periods - Selective residential mobility - Multilevel modelling approaches - Marginal structure models
