Co-Principal Investigator for the SMILE (Solar Wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer) space mission, jointly developed by the European Space Agency and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and due for launch in 2023. Co-Investigator for the Soft X-ray Imager onboard SMILE. This X-ray telescope will map the soft X-ray emission generated by the process of solar wind charge exchange in the Earth's magnetosheath and magnetospheric cusps.
