Description
Invited to attend a 5 day Teachers of Lighting Workshop organised by the IES. This intensive programme provided a great opportunity for cross Atlantic fertilisation of teaching and research ideas. Subsequently students from the University of Oklahoma (with Dr Alana Pulay, Assistant Professor, Design, Housing and Merchandising), visited our Sky Dome and participated in UCL MSc Light and Lighting Dissertation research projects on the lighting of retail environments, changing rooms, texture in interiors and daylight perception.

Exploring Daylight Metrics Invited Speaker Institute of Lighting Professionals 15-JUN-2016
Description
With Longyu Guan, based on his PhD work, presenting the advantage of his new daylight metric which takes into account daylight in the volume, rather than just the horizontal plane which is the focus of traditional daylight metrics. This takes the essence of Kit Cuttle's Mean Room Surface Exitance, however adapts the concept to make it applicable to complex spaces with daylight, typical of modern architecture.
