As part of the school's '6th form enrichment programme', I have been invited to engage 6th formers in a discussion on urbanisation and what it means in cities around the world.

Gave a public talk titled, 'Successful slum upgrade: formal change and informal continuities’.

Examined a PhD upgrade candidate alongside an internal examiner.

As part of a one day workshop on 'Urban housing in Mexico and South Africa: Learning from comparison', I presented on 'Governance in an upgraded settlement: the compact between ‘giver’ and ‘receiver’.

The consultancy is to write a topic guide on the 'Provision of Housing for the Poor' for DFID advisors and the general public. The Guide will be made available on DFID's website.

For a 2 day workshop titled, 'Urban land and conflict in the global South' (2 day workshop), I presented on ‘Tensions arising from the use of identity and social relationships to access upgraded settlements in South Africa’. organised by the Global Urban Research Centre, University of Manchester.

As part of the 'Taking Place' seminar series, organised by the Centre for Research into Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH), University of Cambridge, I gave a talk titled, 'Challenging conventions of slum upgrading: lessons learnt from a study of upgrade in South Africa’.

Invited to speak at the Contemporary Africa seminar series, organised by the Centre for West African Studies, University of Birmingham, 05 March 2013. The talk was titled 'Upgrading Slums in Durban’.
