Description
In 2011 Nicolas Courtois have broken GOST, the official encryption standard of the Russian Federation and of the Central Bank of Russian Federation and other major banks and organisations when it was in the process of being standardized by the International Standards Organisation (ISO) to become an international standard for encryption.His report was officially submitted to ISO in May 2011 and was also published in Cryptologia, the world-leading journal on military and government cryptography. The editorial of Cryptologia has called Nicolas a ``GOST Buster''. As a result of this research GOST have been rejected by ISO in late 2011.

Breaking the London Oyster Card Other Knowledge Transfer beyond Academia Transport For London 01-JUL-2009
Description
In July 2000 Nicolas Courtois has published a "simultaneous differential attack" on the MiFare classic smart card, as used in London Oyster card, Amsterdam chipkart, building passes, UK Cabinet Office buildings and elsewhere - about 200 million of these smart card are currently in circulation and more than 1 billion have been sold. Few months later the Transport for London stopped using this chip and replaced the Oyster card chip by another chip.
