Invited to review for publication a manuscript entitled Talking to Tyrants: Pindar and the Construction of Sicilian Monarchy, by Prof. Kathryn Morgan (UCLA).

 

Three-day international conference on Simonides of Keos. Proceedings forthcoming.

Took responsibility for organising two Taster Days (with 57 and 84 participants from London schools) and a two-day Summer School on the Ancient World (for thirty participants) designed for students in Years 11 and 12, and also helped to organise two Classics Fairs at UCL, one for students in this age group (with about 80 coming from a range of London schools), and the other for primary school pupils (for about 120 children from primary schools in London).

Visited two secondary schools (BSix Sixth Form Academy and the Jewish Free School in Brent) and gave well-received outreach talks about Classics to Year 11-12 pupils on Homer and the Odyssey (BSix) and Athenian Democracy. Also contributed to the UCL Greek and Latin Summer School with a tour of the Parthenon Marbles in the British Museum, and gave a lecture and two seminars on the modern actuality of Greco-Roman slavery at the UCL Outreach Office Year 12 Conference on July 18, 2013. As well, I contributed a one-hour talk on woman poets and musicians in antiquity to the Pécs University Summer School, held in Budapest Hungary on August 20-24, 2013.

I was invited by the organisers of a panel on Ancient Greek Music to contribute a paper (entitled 'The Hyporcheme: Another Look') at the 2011 Classical Association conference, held on 15th-18th April, 2011.

I was invited by the organisers to contribute to the conference and the enusing edited volume 'Greek Memories: Theory and Practice', held at Durham University on September 27-28, 2010.

I was invited by the panel organisers to give a talk in the panel on 'Performance' at the American Philological Association held in Anaheim, California on Jan. 6-9, 2010.
