This PhD student-led project will establish an applied linguistics society for students and Staff from all the programmes linked to the Centre for Applied Linguistics (MA Applied Linguistics, MA Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Pre-Service), MA Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (In-Service), MA Intercultural Communication and MPhil/PhD Culture, Communication and Media). It aims to provide community-building opportunities for colleagues and MA/PhD students from various academic pathways who may otherwise rarely meet.

 

Language, education and social inequalities: towards more equal and inclusive societies in the Global South.

Study and working group in Critical Sociolinguistics which aims to generate a space to discuss and produce knowledge about language-related issues and their intersection with society.

This series sought to engage in a conversation with leaders of different London-based organisations which support women who are subjected to structural violence, who have been historically marginalised and who have been prevented from participating in social, economic and political life

This initiative consisted of a series of workshops aim to strengthen PhD students’ ethnographic voices and to get involved in societal debates about social change. This project was anchored in a larger attempt to foster different ways of representing knowledge and dialoguing with the multiple publics that our research intends to address.
