Research Summary
In the Adriaenssens lab, we use systems neuroscience approaches to study how gut hormones engage key neurocircuits to elicit changes in the control of energy balance and behaviour. This work aims to clarify the role of the gut-brain axis in the aetiology of metabolic disease, and how best to therapeutically leverage gut hormone signalling for the treatment of diabetes and obesity.
Teaching Summary
I lecture for the NEUR0009 module (Metabolic Neuroscience), and host summer and project students from the BSc Biomedical Sciences course.
