Biography

I am an energy specialist based in Kenya. I have worked for 12 years in policy, planning and practice in the energy sector in SSA, providing expertise in design, implementation and management of projects aimed at increasing access to affordable and sustainable energy services. These have been national projects in Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda and regional projects in the Horn of Africa.

I have a BSc in Energy Engineering from Kenyatta University (Kenya) and a MSc in Sustainable Energy and Entrepreneurship from University of Nottingham (UK). As part of the foundation for my PhD work, I completed the  Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity (AFSEE) programme at LSE

Other trainings i've done include renewable energy technologies, electrification, electricity pricing and environmental and social frameworks. I also audited classes in clean energy project development and finance, strategic communication, building and managing professional sales organisations, and political development economics at Stanford University (USA); and have taken virtual short courses on public policy economics and geographic information science via the University of Oxford.

Research Summary

My research interests revolve around electrification interventions and impacts, the institutions that shape them, and the context they operate in and perpetuate, focusing on Kenya, and seeking to expand system design to consider and diminish social and economic inequalities.
