I am an associate professor in the Department of Information Studies at University College London (UCL), where I teach and do research within the areas of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. Before joining UCL, I worked as a research fellow at the Individual and Collective Reasoning team (ICR) within the Computer Science and Communications (CSC) research unit of the University of Luxembourg. I have also worked as a research assistant at the Information Systems Lab of the Institute of Computer Science of FO.R.T.H. in Greece.  I hold a PhD and an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Crete and a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. I am a member of the Hellenic Association for Artificial Intelligence (EETN), co-director of the DIS Knowledge, Information and Data Science group, and member of the Applied Logic Group. I have served in the organisation and programme committees of several international Artificial Intelligence conferences, and have published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers in the areas of Knowledge Representation, Nonmonotonic Reasoning, Semantic Web, Ambient Intelligence and Digital Humanities.

Research Summary

My main research interests are in the areas of Knowledge Representation, Nonmonotonic Reasoning, Argumentation, Semantic Web and Ambient Intelligence. My current activities concern the study of logic-based methods for argumentation and persuasion, and the development of knowledge representation models and knowledge-based systems for the Web, Cultural Heritage and other application domains.

Teaching Summary

I am teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level courses on programming, Knowledge Representation and Semantic Web technologies. I am also supervising postgraduate and research students of the Department of Information Studies.
