  • Leadership roles as Clinical Trials Lead in Paediatric Ophthalmology, Director of the Children's Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital, Deputy Divisional Director at Moorfields at City Road, CI/PI on clinical trials in paediatric ophthalmology
  • 2004-2007: PhD in Cell Biology - Dynamic protrusive activity of fibroblasts in 3D culture model
  • 2002 Diploma in Medical Education, University of Dundee
  • 1998: FRCOphth and FRCS(Ed)
  • 1994/5: Graduation from Medical School at the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany, and viva for Dr med. - Thesis on innervation of endolymphatic sac

Research interests:

  • fundamental processes underlying myopia development in children
  • fundamental targets for novel interventions to slow myopia progression in children
  • clinical trials of interventions to slow myopia progression in children
  • novel approaches to measure visual function in children
  • clinical trials of novel dichoptic interventions for amblyopia in children

My teaching activities relate to my clinical specialty.

In addition, I teach during our departmental sessions for trainee doctors, supervisor trainee doctors, and give talks to GPs, optometrists, orthoptists, nurses and qualified teachers for students with vision impairment - as well as colleagues in our own and other eye departments.
