Alex is a Lecturer in Education at UCL Institute of Education & is the Programme Leader for the MA Education.
Previously he has been the Head of ITE at UCL, a Lecturer in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education at Middlesex University and a Research Officer at Education Development Trust.
Alex has completed an AHRC-funded doctorate exploring learning in art galleries (2013) and was a British Research Council Fellow at the Kluge Center, Library of Congress, Washington DC (2012).
Alex's research work is concerned with education policy and social justice at national/regional (government) and local (institutional) levels. He has published on topics including the Prevent policy in education; values and value statements in universities; and urban school system reform.
Alex is currently Programme Leader for the MA Education
He taught across the following modules:
- What is Education? (CPAS0117) - formerly module leader
- Understanding Research (CPAS0134)
- Teaching Controversial Issues (CPAS0129)
- Dissertation supervision (CPAS0118)
In the past Alex has been the Head of ITE (2022) and a personal tutor on UCL's Arts and Sciences (BASc) degree programmes (2019-2022).
