Alice Williams is a AHRC Research Fellow at the Institute of Archaeology. She earned her doctorate from the University of Oxford as part of the AHRC-funded project Artefacts of Excavation: the international distribution of finds from British excavations in Egypt, 1880-1980. Her thesis focused on temporary exhibitions of Egyptian Archaeology in late nineteenth and early twentieth century London and their role in finds distribution and in constructing knowledge of Egypt.
Alice has over ten years of experience working in museums, particularly with collections of Egyptian archaeology and their associated archives. Most recently she held the position of Curatorial and Collections Assistant at the Petrie Museum of Egyptian and Sudanese Archaeology at UCL.
