Biography

I am currently working as a research associate at the Clinical Psychopharmacology Unit.

I received my PhD from the University of Bristol in 2017. During my PhD I investigated the effect of smoking abstinence on cognitive performance and craving in regular smokers. Using these as treatment markers I developed a human behavioural model of tobacco withdrawal to test the effectiveness of new smoking cessation treatments.

I received my MSc in Human Cognitive Neuropsychology from the University of Edinburgh in 2012 and my BSc in Psychology from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands, in 2011.

Research Summary

My main research interests are the development of treatments for substance use as well as research on drug use pathways that might ultimately inform policy, for both licit and illicit substances.

I am currently working on a project investigating the interactions of the European nightlife scene and drug use in young adults (https://www.emssurvey.eu/) as well as a clinical trial investigating the combined use of psychological therapy and a low dose of ketamine as a possible treatment for alcoholism (https://psychology.exeter.ac.uk/kare/).
