Biography

I am a Senior Teaching Fellow as well as International Academic Coordinator at UCL Centre for Languages and International Education (CLIE), now a part of UCL Institute of Education. As such, I design and deliver academic programmes for international students both in London and abroad.
Since 2007, I have set up UCL’s foundation programme in the humanities and social sciences (the UPCH), UCL's Centre for Preparatory Studies in Astana, Kazakhstan, and the CLIE's first pre-masters programme, the postgraduate Diploma in Academic Research and Methods for UCL Qatar, where I also contributed to the writing support offered to masters students.

In 2016, I started working with the Bartlett School of Architecture on a taylor-made pre-masters for international students wishing to study on the School's MArch programmes.

I also worked with UCL Arena Centre on the 'Connected Curriculum' initiative, and remain an assessor of  the HEA / Arena Fellowship.
I hold a UCL Provost Teaching Award and I am an HEA / Arena Senior Fellow.

I hold a PhD in French Studies from UCL, as well as a Maitrise (MA) and Licence (BA) in History from La Sorbonne University, Paris.

Research Summary

My  research interests  include collective memory, political myths, and representations of the city.

I am interested in modern European history in general, with a focus on European ethos and ideals expressed between the wars (Paul Valéry, Stefan Zweig, etc).

My current research focus is on international higher education, in particular how to support and develop academic literacies, criticality and research autonomy in international contexts.

Teaching Summary

I have taught at UCL from pre-undergraduate to PhD level for almost 20 years, designing programmes and courses in History and Politics as well as in academic literacies.

I have taught at UCL Department of French: 'The Making of Modern France' (cultural history 1789-1968 and institutions and political parties); 'Literature in Context'; 'Citizenship and Nationhood'.

I have designed and delivered courses in European history and politics at pre-undergraduate level (UCL international foundation course), undergradudate level (“The European Apocalypse – 1914-1942”), and pre-masters level.

I have designed and delivered postgraduate courses on dissertation and thesis writing.

In the past 10 years, I have specialised in the design and delivery of programmes that improve international students’ academic literacies, criticality and research.
