Biography

Rob Aldridge is an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Health Informatics. He qualified in medicine from University College London in 2007 and in 2010 completed an MSc in Epidemiology at The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Prior to studying medicine, he gained a MEng in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Nottingham and worked in management consultancy for several years. 

Research Summary

Rob’s current research focuses on infectious disease epidemiology and the health inequalities faced by vulnerable, and often invisible populations such as homeless, migrants, prisoners and intravenous drug users.  Rob’s unique training in engineering, medicine and epidemiology allow him to carry out research using a range of methods including mathematical modelling of infectious disease, observational, interventional and cost effectiveness studies.

Teaching Summary

Rob is module lead for The Population Perspective Module on the intercalated degree in Primary Health Care at UCL, a course that enables students to understand the health needs of a population, how these may be assessed and the role of primary care services in meeting these needs. He developed and is co-lead of new MSc module on Infectious disease epidemiology and global health policy, Institute for Global Health, University College London.
