Graduating from The University of Sheffield in 2007 having studied for a BA in Economics, I was lucky enough to spend the penultimate taught semester of my final year undertaking Master level studies at Universita Ca Foscari, Venice. This was as part of the Erasmus study abroad programme.

Following my degree, I then went on to gain work experience at the American Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic, Prague. This was as part of the Leonardo work abroad scheme, and led to me continuing to work for the Chamber beyond the initial placement period.

In early 2009 I then went on to start as the Associate on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership between the Corporate Finance function within KPMG UK and the Bartlett School of Construction and Project Management. This 2 year research project collaboration saw me based in KPMG offices engaging with industry and senior civil servants. The project goal was to develop objective methods for benchmarking privately financed Social Infrastructure facilities and make significant progress on this in hospitals and schools. This work forms part of the scope of my ongoing part time PhD studies, expected completion of which is 2014.

On completion of the project, I continued this area of research, along with other projects, at UCL as a Research Assistant to Graham Ive. Additional projects undertaken during this positions included assisting in the establishment of a new MSc in Infrastructure Investment and Finance, due for launch in Septembr 2013, as well as some post graduate teaching.

More recently, for the 2012/13 academic year, I took up a Teaching Fellow position to deliver the 1st and 2nd year units in Economics and Finance on the BSc Project Management in Construction undergraduate programme.

Research Summary

Research so far has focused on objective analysis of the operational performance of new Social Infrastructure facilities. This work has sought to benchmark these facilities according to their form of investment as well as procurement method used, with a view to discerning the impact of these aspects on operational and whole life cost and performance. Specific investigations have sought to comment on the theoretical reduction in whole life cost of facilities made able, and incentivsed, through integrated forms of contracting for facility construction and operational servicing.

Additional research interests include the determinants of firm levels of productivity and profitability, specifically with reference to contractors and developers, as well as research topics around the interdependency of infrastructure assets.
