Some of my current and recent research projects include: a critical study of the wider benefits of postgraduate programmes in international development; an exploration of the literacy and learning practices and experiences of migrant domestic workers in London; research on teacher education and gender equality in Nigeria; and a study of the enactment of global goals on gender, education and poverty reduction in Kenya and South Africa.


My research interests include:
Education and development in contexts of migration and (im)mobility
Adult learning, women's literacy and literacy as a social practice
Educational inequalities and the empowerment of women and girls
Student mobility and teaching and learning in/for international development
I teach and supervise across the Education and International Development cluster of MA programmes, and am module leader for the modules Migration, Education and Development, and Learners, Learning and Teaching in the context of Education for All (EFA).
I supervise doctoral students working on aspects of the relationship between education, migration and (im)mobility and/or on adult/women's literacy in the context of international development.
